Hello Everyone.
Does anyone feel the same way I do, that this year has flown by? I can hardly believe that Christmas is right around the corner, and we have been seeing it in all the stores since August. I can remember as a little girl , Christmas came out after October but now…. things have really changed.
A few days ago I was in a Dollar General Store, which has some great little decor when you need a little something..{helpful hint!!! HA!} I was having a dinner party in just a few hours and I ran in to purchase a serving bowl. I ended up getting more things than I thought and my cart was full, How does that happen??????? Anyway…in the process I broke a bowl. I left it in my cart and decided to take it to the front with me when I checked out. When I got to the front I explained to the cashier that I accidently broke it and did I still need to pay for it? His response to me was YES!! I must say I was shocked, I said to him ” Really, I am surprised.” I asked him nicely “what happens when employee’s break things? ” He said SHARPLY “we don’t break things!” I must say I was taken back by his rudeness and I really wanted to respond …..in a negative way, but chose not to. I then asked “Was a manager on duty?” My daughter Holly was with me and I knew she was thinking ” Mom Please??” When the manager came I then just asked her the same question, her response was “no, you dont have to pay!” I was very thankful and expressed my gratitude to her and checked out and left the store.
You might say to me “ok”…. good story but……. well the “but” is… when I was putting my things in my car , a lady approached me and said “Ma’am, can I tell you something?” I replied and said “yes” and she began to thank me for doing the right thing, she went on to say ,most people would have put the bowl on the shelf and never told anyone that they broke it and you chose to the right thing . I must say I was stuned….. she was behind me in line and was watching this conversation the whole time.
This was a great lesson that day, No matter what happens, just choose the right thing! This lady didn’t know me, but my choice spoke to her that day. Our lives and our actions reflects our testimony . That day I walked away and was thankful that my character was greater than a $4.99 dollar bowl.
UNTIL BE REAL,
PK
